Jane Edgren, Voice & Speech
With a degree in vocal performance from one of the country's premiere music schools, the University of Michigan, and post-graduate training in New York that included study at the Juillard School and Manhattan School of Music, Jane has over 25 years of performance and teaching experience. She is unique in her approach to vocal instruction, in that the voice is developed with joy and ease without any trendy techniques to interfere.
Jane's integrity is evidenced in her commitment to only begin serious vocal instruction at an age when it is appropriate to nurture and train the emerging voice in a healthy way. Whether her students are preparing for a career in pop, Broadway, jazz, rock, blues, or classical music, or simply have the desire to improve their singing in their church, community, high school or college choir, Jane is there to help. She accepts beginning through advanced students, and assists them as they develop their own musical identity and style.
Jane specializes in expanding range and producing an easy, consistent and reliable vocal production. She also offers short-term coaching and preparation for auditions, competitions, Broadway musical performances, and college entrance auditions.
Some of Jane's performing experiences have included the opera roles of Violetta in La Traviata, Leonora in Il Trovatore, and Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus. In addition to appearing in recitals, she has sung as a soprano soloist in concert with the Charlotte Symphony under the batons of both Christof Perick and David Tang. Jane also immensely enjoys collaborating with John Gurske on jazz standards.
