And they are playing on the same floor space that the babies had their music this morning. Yesterday, it was our home school band in that room preparing for their end of year concert. What a great way to fill some of that independent time alone that suddenly arrives when the busy school year is over. Making music is one of the few ways to spend time alone, yet be developing the mind, the body, the heart! We tend to think of large scale summer trips, camps and events to celebrate this short break from the schedule that has tied family's godown all year. They are still so OPEN, are mastering precision with their language, and come up with charming connections of what they learn to their own short history.<br><br>Today we got deep into Mr. Beethoven and his feelings (and ours!) via his 6th Symphony. Their faces fall still when they learn this greatest of musicians lost the ability to hear. But their sadness is alleviated when told how he put his ear to the floor. "That's how my fish hears!"&nbsp;<br><br>I like to hum a bit of the fifth to let them know they may already know some of his music. The ba, ba, ba, bum brought instant recognition. "It's from the news!"
